Notre Dame Football is headed to historic Lambeau Field, finally.

Notre Dame announce today that the Irish will face Wisconsin on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, in the latest installment of the Shamrock Series, with the game airing nationally on NBC and Peacock. Originally slated for 2020 but postponed due to COVID-19, this long-anticipated matchup at one of the most iconic venues in sports, is now rescheduled.

Lambeau Field, which has hosted just two college football games in its history. Adding to the significance of the game, Lambeau Field is named after Curly Lambeau, a former Notre Dame player and founder of the Green Bay Packers. In 1918, Lambeau attended Notre Dame and played for Knute Rockne. However a severe case of tonsillitis forced him to miss the 1919 spring semester. He never returned to Notre Dame. After a long recovery, Lambeau went to work as a shipping clerk at the Indian Packing Company, in Green Bay. In 1919 he founded the Green Bay Packers after his employer put up $500 for uniforms.

Notre Dame will be the designated home team, wrapping up a two-game series against Wisconsin. The first meeting in 2021 ended in a dominant 41-13 Irish victory at Soldier Field.

The Shamrock Series, launched in 2009, takes Notre Dame’s home games to major cities and stadiums across the country. The Irish are 12-0 in the series, with past games held at Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, AT&T Stadium, and Allegiant Stadium, among other iconic sites.

Last season the Irish defeated Army in Yankee Stadium, 49-14 in the latest Shamrock Series game.
