This world’s most beautiful and perfect creation, college football played on idyllic fall days by academic institutions big and small all across the fruited plain gone, done, cancelled, except for a renegade few among the Power Five striving to listen, learn, adapt and come public scorn or NCAA disintegration, determined that they will play.

Consider how imprudent those who have canceled a treasured and valuable tradition will look if the renegades pull off their daring quest. Consider how the renegades will fare if disaster strikes. Consider the courage it takes, to stand in the face of a torrent of dominoes falling, and to play, anyway.

It is the murky middle ground between the bright light of crisp fall days with young men battling for glory and the honor of their schools on hallowed ground and the other side: darkened stadiums, cavernous and empty, quiet and cold, fan bases sullen and sad.

Enter a new dimension, and welcome to another new and strange reality, welcome to College Football 2020…

Welcome to the COVID Zone.
