Notre Dame released its injury report heading into fall camp, and the Irish appear to be entering August in relatively good health.

Five players are currently listed as out, while six others will begin camp participating in modified activity. The good news for Notre Dame is that head coach Marcus Freeman indicated that the players in the modified group are expected to be ready for Week One.

Players Out

  • DL Christopher Burgess Jr. — Left tibia stress fracture surgery
  • DL Tiki Hola — Right knee ACL surgery
  • OL Charles Jagusah — Left humerus fracture surgery
  • OL Peter Jones — Right shoulder/pectoral strain
  • LB Ko’o Kia — Left shoulder labrum surgery

Charles Jagusah remains the most notable name among the players listed as out, continuing what has been an incredibly difficult stretch of injuries for the talented offensive lineman.

Jagusah has undergone multiple surgeries during his Notre Dame career and has had his progress interrupted just as he appeared ready to take on a major role for the Irish. The latest setback came when he suffered a fractured left humerus in a UTV accident on July 5, 2025, an injury that required surgery and kept him out last season.

Before the accident, the veteran offensive lineman was projected to be a starter for Notre Dame. Instead, another season was lost to injury, and he will now begin another fall camp on the sideline.

It has been a remarkably tough run for a player Notre Dame has long believed could be an important part of its offensive line. His continued recovery will be one of the more compelling stories to follow throughout camp.

Modified Activity

  • WR Elijah Burress — Right hamstring strain
  • OL Ashton Craig — Left knee ACL surgery
  • WR Quincy Porter — Left knee patella surgery
  • S Nick Reddish — Right shoulder labrum surgery
  • WR Brayden Robinson — Right knee ACL surgery
  • LB Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa — Left knee ACL surgery

Several important players appear on the modified list, including projected starters Ashton Craig and Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa.

Craig started all 12 games at center for Notre Dame last season and is expected to anchor the middle of the offensive line again this fall. Having him back to full strength by the opener would be an important development for an Irish offensive line looking to establish continuity during camp.

Viliamu-Asa is another player Notre Dame will be careful with during August. The linebacker suffered a season-ending knee injury against Syracuse last season after emerging as an impact player on the Irish defense. He is expected to return to a starting role once fully cleared.

Ohio State transfer Quincy Porter will also begin camp under modified activity. The wide receiver is expected to have a significant role in Notre Dame’s passing game and could become an important piece of the Irish receiving corps.

Overall, the injury report offers more good news than bad for Notre Dame as fall camp begins. While the Irish have five players who remain out, several of the most prominent names on the report are already progressing through modified activity.

Most importantly, Freeman said the expectation is that those players will be ready to go when Notre Dame opens the season.

For now, that leaves the Irish entering fall camp with most of their projected lineup available — and several important pieces getting closer to full strength.
