Notre Dame football announced today that it has committed to a 12 year home and home series with another college football blue blood.
Notre Dame and Clemson have agreed to a 12-game, home-and-home series beginning in 2027 and running through 2038—one matchup every season.
The series builds on their existing ACC scheduling agreement, which already had the rivals set to meet five times through 2037. This new deal locks in seven additional showdowns, making it Notre Dame’s first 12-game series agreement since 2002.
“This rivalry has already delivered some of college football’s most memorable moments,” said Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua. “Our fans deserve more of them.”
Clemson AD Graham Neff echoed Bevacqua: “These will be must-see matchups for fans and national audiences.”
Notre Dame and Clemson have met eight times so far, the first of those games was in 1977. Clemson leads the all-time series 5–3. The rivalry has been high-stakes: five meetings featured top-15 teams, and three were top-five clashes between 2018 and 2020. The two also squared off in the 2020 ACC Championship. 2020 was Notre Dame’s lone season in a conference, played during the Covid-19 pandemic season.
Both programs are coming off impressive runs, including College Football Playoff appearances in 2024 and deep postseason histories. Notre Dame boasts 962 all-time wins and 11 national championships, while Clemson has 808 wins and three national titles.
This annual matchup is likely to become a highlight on the college football calendar.
