Back On Track?
All off season the excitement had grown,
This team had what was needed to take the throne.
Skill players and a defense for the ages,
And plenty of NIL cash to pay their wages.

At A&M all that rang true,
A solid win and the hype it grew.
12-0 looked already in the bag,
A national title in sight was the brag.

But the NIU Huskies had a different thought,
And all the hype it was for naught.
Back down to earth and the fans they wailed,
Change the quarterback! And the Coaches have failed.

No one knew what this team now would do,
So they went out and hung 66 on Purdue!
The feast that game was Boilermaker filet,
Irish frustration ruled the day.

Miami (Ohio) was next in the queue,
And for a quarter and a half fan disdain it grew.
But some nasty ND defense took a toll,
And Riley Leonard finally got things under control.

Against Louisville revenge was the creed,
And a crazy first quarter gave the Irish a nice lead.
Great defense starting from there,
Became the Cardinals pitiful despair.

And now things look back on track,
Maybe Riley’s not so bad and the coach no quack.
Just win out is now the required task,
If so in playoff glory ND still can bask.
